Archive for January, 2010

One of my favorite shops in Stavanger has to be Løvås Bruktbu, whom sells used books, comic series and books, and lots of used dvd’s ( and still some videos and other things ).  I have probably been a regular customer in this shop for well over 25 years – since I was a little boy hunting for cheap comic books – and I’m quite sure I have many of those still on my loft ( which need to be cleaned up – btw… ;) )

The prices varies from half the price of a new product  (if its still quite new…) and from 1/5 till 1/3 of a new price for most relevant products, and down to “slim to nothing” for less sought items.    Both on the inside and on the outside ( on the west/right side of the entrance door ) they have special discounts in a bundle – where you can get 5-15 comics/books for 10 NOK or something like that.  Also on the outside on the east/left side of the entrance door they put out some magazines and books for free – both in Norwegian and English normally.

Of course have also some older collectors items that is many many times the original price :-)

The neighborhood around this shop is quite colorful, with loft of foreign shops and eating places, and every Saturday in the summer half year there is a Saturday flee market close by at the Nytorget marketplace. Both this shop and the area around is well worth a couple of hours of sightseeing :-)

Herby recommended by me :-)

The address for Løvås Bruktbu is Pedersgaten 25 – and its open in normally business hours (normal for shops, not as late as shopping malls ) :

I’ve given my self till Jan. 10th to figure out exactly what I should have as my resolutions, and my targets for 2010…

I’ll might get me self a very busy first 4 months, – as I see I should be prepared and improved well before XY’s family comes on visit in the spring/summer.  A man want to show of the little he can, of course ;-)   hehe

So here are my primary thoughts of Targets/resolutions listed :

- help XY to look for a job
- finish painting the house
- fix up the garden another bit
- train regularly ( maybe min 3 times / 5 hours a week )
- train the back extra to prevent more trouble from that side of my body :)
- learn more Chinese ( 3 times 30 min a week? + one character a day )
- finish the Nordsjørittet bike race in less than average for all the bikers
- go more bike races?
- run around the Mosvannet lake non-stop, and under 17 minutes ( for first time in 12-15 years )
- get a wedding planned, and a date set?
- write down all costs of the year daily – so I can kept an eye on how I spend my money
- eat more healthy
- improve workman skills – and get a plan for how my career will go in the future
- finish up my Bachelor degree, preferable in may – and start thinking if i should go for more or not
- loose weight of course …  -9 to-12 kg would be perfect but possible?
- clean up in the loft
- write some blog(s)
- keep having a profitable result in bets :-)
- get a better % return on my stocks then the Oslo Stock Exchange (OSEBX)
- be smart about money in general – look through the personal economy, and look for a new bank?
- season card for Viking FK, and go on the yearly trip to Birmingham + final?
- take an exiting holiday somewhere together with XY :-)

I spent the minutes around midnight at the the ice on Mosvannet lake, – overlooking the fireworks from the Vålandtårnet Tower especially. I was nice to see the public fireworks, even I wished I was at the tower as planned, – but it was good to just be outdoors again – more or less first time since I injured my back.

At temperature -9′c it actually didn’t feel that cold – no wind and very dry air considering we are in the coastal city of Stavanger. My hands were quite cold after 45 minutes without gloves, but the rest of me was still pretty good and warm, – even without a thick/woolen sweater :-) .  Good for me  ;)    hehe

Tomorrow I plan to post ( the first of ) my new years resolutions, – I still need some time to think about where to set my targets, and how I want to make my chances to manage them best possible. At the moment it looks like most of them should be done first 5 months of the year – and I must make sure I don’t bite over to much…

Good luck in 2010 for all of you :-)     and if you have any good new years resolutions for your selves – please let me know in the comments :-)
